Applications of Deontic Logic in Wearable Robots

Dimitrios Zafeirakopoulos

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to highlight how deontic logic can address
some of the issues concerning both the users and the de- velopers of wearable robots.
We begin by presenting a short overview of what we view as the major issues concerning
wearable robots. After a brief introduction to deontic logic, we divide the
various issues concern- ing wearable robots into categories, depending on whether
deontic logic might or might not be helpful towards addressing them. Finally, we
give a small application of deontic logic, showing exactly how it can be used to
address one of these issues regarding wearable robots with a concrete example.
